From 20080 to 2009, Hilfswerk International implemented a project (“Integration Program for the Improvement of the Social Sector by Supporting the Civil Society together with Local Authorities”) in cooperation with the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan. The project was funded by the European Union.
The aim of the project was to strengthen the social service sector of the Republic of Tajikistan. It had three main objectives:
- The organization of short-term practical courses for mid-level social workers
- The creation of a network of public organizations providing social assistance to the population
- The creation of a day center for children with disabilities in the Gissar District
